Ships fuel fandoms; they create a driving force for TV shows and motivate fans to keep watching. However, ships can get ugly and brutal. It’s time for the ultamite shipper wars: the big leagues. We will give all the ships a second chance to redeem themselves and an opportunity for those who have already won another victory. This Shipper Wars will feature some of the top powerhouse ships which consist of steady fandoms. Let’s begin!

Olicity (Arrow)

These two have undeniable chemistry. Felicity Smoak and vigilante Oliver Queen are strong and well rounded characters that are independent individuals. Both actors capture a deep sense of caring and affection for the other. There on-screen relationship has won many the hearts of many Arrow fans.

Diggle and Lyla (Arrow)

John Diggle and Lyla Michaels are two peas in a pod. These two are military experts and are one of Oliver Queen’s greatest allies. Both Diggle and Lyla have grown through the course of the series, and have even decided to get remarried after having their first child. Diggle and Lyla give hope that any love can be rekindled.

Korrasami (The Legend of Korra)

Korra and Asami have traveled across the world together and have developed a special connection. Even though, this couple/ship/otp is debated across fandom it does not stop it from making it to our list of powerhouse ships. Korrasami has several fans cheering on for these two best friends. Korra and Asami both bring out the best in each other and have a long established friendship.

Delena (The Vampire Diaries)

Delena, the pairing between bad boy Damon, a vampire, and Elena the main protagonist of The Vampire Diaries. Both Damon and Elena have gone through a lot over the years and have developed a strong connection. This ship proves that love is strong and passionate.

Klaroline (The Vampire Diaries)

Klaroline makes our list as one of the most popular otps on Tumblr. These two are polar opposites but there is no denying there amazing on screen tension. Klaus, the convicted anti-hero, falls for the miss perfect Caroline in the Vampire Diaries. With Klaus’ dark side being pushed away by Caroline these two find the best in each other.

Westallen (The Flash)

A classic comic book couple, Iris West and Barry Allen make it to our big league Shipper Wars. These two are one of America’s most beloved superhero couples. Besides being a romantic pairing these two share years of friendship and understanding. Both actors work well together to create a believable love.

Outlaw Queen (Once Upon a Time)

Everyone deserves a second chance at love. Regina and Robin both have tough pasts, but they understand that a person’s past is in the past. Robin gives Regina hope and is her rock when it comes to her self doubt. Regina on the other hand, loves Robin with all her heart even if that means not being with him.

Swan Queen (Once Upon a Time)

Swan Queen has proven itself in our last Shipper Wars: Once Upon a Time edition to be a powerhouse. Both Emma and Regina strive to be the best mothers they can possibly be. Besides sharing magical abilities these two have one motivation–Henry. Both characters have gone through a lot over the years and have a deep connection and dynamic.

Rumbelle (Once Upon a Time)

Ups and downs is what Rumbelle brings shippers. These two can cause an overflow of feels with their undying love for each other. However, this couple is constantly facing new threats and being pulled apart. Belle brings out the best in her beloved beast, while Rumple admires Belle’s good heart and bravery.

Captain Swan (Once Upon a Time)

Regina and Rumplestikskin aren’t the only villains seeking redemption, Captain Hook has also turned to the light in effort to become a better man. Hook and Emma Swan make our list as one of the most moving couples. These two not only look good together but also work well together.

Whouffaldi (Doctor Who)

When the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) met Ms. Clara Oswald many fans shipped them together and formed a large fandom. This ship has grown over the years and even with the change of the Doctor with Peter Capaldi. Clara and the Doctor have traveled all across the universe. Clara has saved the Doctor’s life countless of times. The Doctor on the other hand will stop at nothing to make sure she is safe and happy.

Bellarke (The 100)

Bellarke, a growing ship in the series The 100, made our list of popular ships/otps. These two began the series by fighting for power and leadership, each one desiring to take on the role of the person in charge. Both actors capture a growing bond between these two characters, and a dynamic that is beautiful and trusting.

Stydia (Teen Wolf)

Finally, Stiles and Lydia–even though there are several other popular Teen Wolf ships out there we only had spot for one. Stylida made it on our list because of fans constant devotion and the series long established relationship between the two. Stiles has had a crush on Lydia Martin for almost all his life, while Lydia has grown to become a dear and close friend to Stiles through the recent events in her life. These two have been there for each other in the worst of times and a spark has been implanted in both their hearts.

  1. This is a weird article… There are like 100 ships from once upon a time. You can find other ones really easily. Plus, half of their ships are bad relationships (captain swan!!!! Rumbelle! !!) And I’m not even talking about tvd and the couples you out there. I wish elena and Damon woild stay the hell away from each other. Plus, the chemistry between Ian and nina isn’t really here these days… and nina dobrev must be one of the most overrated actresses.

      1. They have been a ship for 4 years as has Rumbelle. CS and OQ are still new in comparison. Since this is a poll for steady fandoms, SQ and Rumbelle SHOULD be here but some of the other ones… not so much.

Since both rumple and hood went away from storybrooke, with all that happened etc… This is a “war” (they called it so) between the most popular ships, canon or not

      1. To be fair there ARE other ships that aren’t “crack ships” on the show. Emma/Neal is not a crackship. Neither is Grumpy/Nova or Kathryn/Frederick and even the creators said they were intending to pair off Ruby and Whale before they got the rights to Neverland.

      2. whether Platonic or romantic, Emma and Regina’s relationship is one of the most important on the show along with emma/henry or regina/henry. If you are too stubborn or dumb to realize that than that’s your own fault. To call it a “crackship” is ridiculous. And no, I do not ship swan queen.

      3. I’d just like to point out that this poll is titled ‘Shipper Wars: The Big Leagues’ no where is it stated that only canon couples will be listed so you have no reason to complain. Also if you’re so sure it’s a “crack ship” than it shouldn’t bother you that other people decided to be inclusive because you have what’s canon; which is clearly all that you care about. You should also refrain from calling it useless. The relationship between Regina and Emma, no matter how you see it, is the foundation of the show. The many fans of that relationship have supported the show from the beginning and our viewing helps keep the show that gave you your canon ships on air. So we and the ship are not useless. For my final point I want to talk about another poll that has listed favorite family as a category. Do you know what the options included (Frozen Family, The Charmings, Swan-Mills-Charming, Swan-Mills, Swan-Jones, and Hood-Mills). Swan-Jones and Hood-Mills are according to your standards “useless crackfamilies”; I’m sorry but dating someone for a week DOES NOT make you a family. If that were the case, 99% of people in this world would have to consider all of their exes family; I’m sure none of us want that. But they are allowed to be included in the list because fans HOPE that they will ONE DAY be a family. Just as many fans HOPE that one day Regina and Emma will be together. If you don’t agree that something should be included until it happens on screen then I hope to see you send complaints to the creators of that poll and tell them that Swan-Jones and Hood-Mills should not be included.

For me its got to be Klaroline, what a fandom, the adversity that we have overcome, usually with a dose of sassy shade is amazing, to the point that its still such a strong fandom, over 5000 FF on just one site, a massive tumblr and twitter presence. This is a fandom that has taken the reigns from the writers and showrunners, and proved that it is self sustaining in fanon- it thrives even without regular canon.

    Fans are super supportive, well organised, very positive, deliciously sassy and make shipping this couple so much fun.

  3. this isn’t the big leagues and you’re pitting canon same-sex couples against non-canon (should be canon) same-sex couples, rapey awful ships (captain swan) against adulterous dead ships (outlaw queen) against perfectly lovely ships (olicity). qualify the poll to simply say ‘hey these are our favs what do you think’ but don’t call it anything more than that. if you want it to stay remotely fun that is.

    2. Here’s my question;

      Is cannon what we are presented in the source material, or what people add to the source material afterwards? That’s the problem with new media- people think they can cover their mistakes via internet. 100 years from now, people will watch the season finale and say that they’re just friends. Why? Cuz they don’t have the hype the internet had during it’s run. In addition, the show makes has no lead in to the relationship. For all we know, Korra has given up on love and turned to friendship, cuz friendship is magic, suckas.

  6. I love RumBelle, when written in character and true to their canon. Robert Carlyle and Emilie d Ravin have the best on screen chemistry of any couple on TV or movies. Their synergy is amazing!

    As to the above comment about the bad couples of OUAT, being RumBelle and CaptainSwan, there is one reason why RumBelle has gone “bad”, starting with the second half of episode 20 of season 3 “Kansas”, through this first half of season 4: The writers/creators over the top love affair with CaptainSwan, the couple that the writers killed off Rumple’s son to make CaptainSwan happen without “complications”, even though Neal/Baelfire was the foundation reason for the entire show, being the reason that the original curse was cast in season 1 to find him.

    It is the creators/writers unbridled obsession with CaptainSwan that has led them to put the ensemble cast on the back burner and rewrite canon left and right. In “Kansas”, in the beginning, Rumple and Belle are in character…Belle takes on Zelena, though Belle has no magic, because Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West, has killed Rumple’s son and held Rumple captive for a year, torturing and controlling him with a magical dagger, and Rumple, though he is under the control of Zelena and grieving his son, is worried about Belle’s safety…that’s totally in character, but then in the second half of the *same* episode, it was like “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, in which Belle was more interested Zelena’s safety than Rumple and he pulled a sneaky stunt in reaction to that. This set off a chain of events, leading CaptainSwan to go back in time…but not just *anytime*, back to where Snow and Prince Charming first met, forcing CaptainSwan into the beloved SnowIng episode from season 1, “Snow Falls”, as well as the season 1 RumBelle episode, “Skin Deep”, all to make Hook the hero of “Snow Falls” and muddying up the beloved RumBelle episode “Skin Deep”.

    As season 4 began just 2 days after Rumple’s release from captivity and about a week after his son’s murder, the logical RumBelle plot should have been them trying to deal with Rumple’s trauma and grief, but that’s not what happened, Hook, who’s named that because, hello, he has a Hook for a hand as per the fairytale, decided to blackmail Rumple as he figured out that Rumple had used his dagger to kill Zelena, and Belle had a fake dagger. Putting aside the absurd, out of character plot from season 3 of having Rumple use the *dagger* to kill the psycho, who earlier that morning was about to kill a new born baby, instead of Rumple killing Zelena in any number of ways not needing the dagger, Hook decided that he had the right to blackmail a grieving father and abuse victim, who saved everybody including Hook from evil Peter Pan just because he wanted his hand so he could hold/grope Emma Swan on their date. This was during a *Rumple* centric episode that had a wonderful RumBelle scene deleted, and had CaptainSwan ripping off the iconic RumBelle rose scene with Emma dressed and styled like Belle.

    In the course of the first half of season 4, they ripped off several RumBellisms, cut meaningful RumBelle and Rumple scenes, barely had Belle even in the show…for example, in the two hour episode, that included a library scene, Belle was not in any of that episode, even though she’s the librarian. When appalled fans repeatedly asked the writers why Belle wasn’t in the episode at all…Jane Espenson tweeted the outlandish response that it wasn’t nice to bring in an actor for one scene, ignoring the *fact* that Belle (Emilie de Ravin) has been in numerous episodes where she only had one scene and often for only 10 to 3 seconds of screentime and no dialogue at all. Not nice indeed. Heck, the episode before the season 4 mid-season finale, had Belle have 3 seconds of screentime and she was sleeping. Not nice! Yet in the first half of season 4, there has been enough CaptainSwan screentime to choke a horse. Heck during the *Rumple* centric episode that devoted a major potion of the time to CaptainSwan’s date, Emma got ticked off that their date was interrupted by her having to do her *job* as sherrif and deal with a man who had been beaten up and broke into the library and wanted to throw the guy in jail for interrupting her date, yes, she actually said that…Emma has interrupted countless nice RumBelle moments with wanting this or that from Rumple, and in that *Rumple* centric episode, CaptainSwan got to resume their date, which is something that never happens for RumBelle after Emma and the others interrupt RumBelle. Oh and by the way, Emma didn’t know that Hook was the one who beat up the guy…and tried to tell Rumple it was his fault. The writers have gone on a systematic character assassination of both the Rumple and Belle characters throughout season 4 to puff up CaptainSwan and try to make Hook look better than Rumple, without writing a reasonable redemption plot for Hook, screwing up Rumple’s long redemption plot to do it.

      1. Oh, they’ve ruined tons of things for CaptainSwan and Hook. In season 2, Hook was supposed to be a passing character, and RubyRed was supposed to have a major story arc…then RubyRed was relegated to baby sitter, kind of like Belle this season, and bit by bit written out, finally being majorly out of character leaving vulnerable frightened amnesia Belle get drugged up by the asylum nurse, instead of helping her friend. And though some people try to make it sound like Meghan Ory (RubyRed) planned on leaving to be in “Intelligence”, she only started looking for another acting gig *after* she stopped appearing in scripts, and she went to Adam and Eddy to ask why, and they told her they decided to go another way, in other words, Neverland/Hook, and they couldn’t figure out a way to fit her in that plot. Personally, I think having a wolf on the trip might have been useful, but that would have take time away from Hook.

        Then there’s the other half of CaptainSwan, Emma Swan herself, who I liked so much in season 1 who didn’t take crap from anybody, but now, she comes on screen and I cringe. She’s all but forgotten that she has a son, because she’s more interested in slobbing over her pirate boy toy. It’s ironic, when OUAT writer Kalinda was asked about the lack of RumBelle kisses in season 4, she claimed it was because Rumple had secrets from Belle, like that made it so his lips no longer worked, yet CaptainSwan was kissing all over the place despite the secrets Hook has from Emma. Clueless Emma doesn’t know that Hook a few months ago left Eric for dead to keep his precious ship (which he stole), and she thinks he had some great relationship with Neal/Baelfire, yet he sold out 15 year old Baelfire to Pan, causing Bae to live a horrid existence for 300 years, she doesn’t know about Hook bullying disabled people for fun, she doesn’t know about him convincing Rumple that he was too much of a coward to keep his wife from being gang raped…and there’s probably other secrets that Hook is keeping from her that aren’t occurring to me in this moment.

        On top of that, let’s consider what Emma *does* know about Hook and thinks he’s great boyfriend material now, so much so that she ignores her kid most of the time:
        Starting with their first meeting, he was hiding under a pile of dead bodies to convince Emma and the others that Cora had tried to kill him, when he was really working with Cora, he ripped out Aurora’s heart, when Emma and her mother and the others were trapped in the cell in EF, and she begged him not to leave them there, because she had to get back to her son, not only did he leave her and the others, but Hook referred to Emma as dried up and useless, he shot Belle (an innocent woman, who saved his life, to get revenge on Rumple for something that Hook actually started [although Emma doesn’t know about Hook starting it, but Emma knew what he did to Belle}), Hook worked with Cora to kill Emma and her entire family, and then worked with Greg and Tamara to kill the entire town, including Emma and her family) {none of which Hook has been punished for–and they now make it that he is a hero}, and then in that botched CaptainSwan romp through time, it was revealed that Hook regularly got women too drunk to say “no”, to get them into bed, which is rape…and when he had his date with Emma in the *Rumple* centric, Hook was pushing for her to drink when she said she didn’t want to…knowing all these things, Emma thinks he’s the guy to date an have her child around. The OUAT writers and creators have made Emma an idiot, who needs to be defined by her boyfriend. What happened to the show that was supposedly about strong women…oh wait, Hook happened, mystery solved.

    2. I guess I have a completely different take on the issues plauging OUAT. I’m not much of a “shipper”, although I do admit to loving Snow and Charming in Season 1 and Snow Falls remains my favorite episode. Anyway, I think the main issue is the way they’ve changed the dynamic between everyone to ensure they all bow down to Regina. The fact that Snow had more and deeper conversations with Regina this season than with Emma makes me sick. And now they have Snow, Henry and Emma all apologizing to her and begging her to be their friend? For me it’s ruining the show much more than any romantic pairing. They’ve lost the special relationship between Emma and Mary Margaret.

      I don’t know what they are doing with Belle, but I think fans of hers need to just realize that she isn’t, and never will be, one of the main characters that gets a lot of screen time. The first half of this season was very heavy on Frozen and Emma, but Rumple played a major part and had significant screentime. I just don’t think the writers are all that interested in his and Belle’s relationship. Her finding out about the dagger and all his lies was just one on a very long list of storylines that they never paid off. They are way to too worried about plot, plot, plot and making Regina the biggest victim to ever victim. Sorry – just my two cents.

      P.S. I have read a few different places that Robert Carlyle is not interested in playing a fully reformed Rumple, so I think that has much more to do with his regression this season than anything else.

About Belle, she was made a regular (in other words, a “main character”) in June 2012 and continues to be designated as such, though she is not even treated with the respect and screentime at the level of a guest star. The creators have made countless statements for more than 2 years, which revealed themselves to be lies, that they wanted to explore Belle’s character and RumBelle. Sadly, a few months after, Emilie (Belle) and Meghan (RubyRed) were both made regulars “main characters”, the creators fell madly, obsessively in love with Hook, and shoved others aside for him.

        As for Robert’s statements, consider a some of things:
        Robert had stated during the first season that liked that OUAT was a show that his kids could watch, considering they can’t what a lot of his movies, and he was glad he wasn’t playing some horrific character, like he had in the past. He was tired of those types of character. Actors don’t like to be type cast. Indeed, at the 2012 Paley Fest, when an interviewer called Rumple evil, Robert was quick to disagree. As to his other statements referenced above about not wanting Rumple fully reformed, Rumple wouldn’t have been fully reformed in the condition of a recovering abuse and trauma victim, as well as grieving father, and Belle, his wife, would have logically played a big roll in that kind of plot. Additionally, Robert is really not at liberty to talk against the writing of his character, because his bosses may not be happy with that, and Robert is contractually obligated to them…so I suggest taking what he says puffing up the absurd cartoon writing of Rumple with a grain of salt. After all, doesn’t anybody find it curious that days before the Comic Con 2014, it was announced that Robert would not attend the press room for the CC, but then he ended up attending with Emilie and him practically attached at the hip, seeming to be their to give each other moral support?

  7. Captain Swan has many implications of rape culture. If OUAT’s Captain Hook looked like Dustin Hoffman, all of the tween girls wouldn’t consider all of the things Hook has done as romantic. Its disgusting how they regressed Emma characters. I was interested in OUAT because it marketed itself as a modern fairytale and its focused on strong women. Now the show is reduced to women not being happy unless they have some men, and Hood and Hook portrayed on the show are weak, useless, and can’t take no for an answer. Hook was the worse thing to happen to the show because now it is like a Twilight saga.

    (And I am a hundred-percent serious when I say this)
    As stated above my only “Ship” is Rumbelle so obviously I voted for them. (And comparatively they’re doing pretty good too!)
    But I know Swens often have issues in comments for “not being canon” (not here specifically but I’ve seen it on various other polls)
    So seeing them in the lead right now I’d like to say I wish them the BEST of luck!
    And if Rumple and Belle DO come in second your the ship I want to see in first!

    1. Is Woodley Adams a Swan Queen fan? If not, you are just projecting. It is funny that so many seem threaten for a so called “crack ship”. Ironically, Regina and Emma along with Rumple, Henry, and Snowing are the foundation of the show. If Hook or Robin are no longer on the show, there will be no impact to the main cast and Storybook at all.

  17. I watch like three shows from this list – Arrow, Flash and OUAT. I’m one of those who really don’t ship Oliver and Felicity romantically and while I like Westallen I’m not deeply passionate about it. Most of the ships on OUAT either don’t convince me at all (Emma & Regina romantically) or are problematic, like Rumbelle, or both (Hook and Emma). I eventually voted for Regina and Robin Hood as it’s been nice for me to see Regina genuinely happy and in love for once even if the writers can’t ever leave Regina alone and get like a moment of peace on that show.

  21. I have three really huge problems with your list. First off, no Johnlock? No gay men on your list whatsoever when you have lesbians? The fuck?
    Second most of your ships are from once upon a time where shipping is like… A fan service to them. Everyone get with everyone for no reason other than they want to make their own live action fanfictions.
    Third and biggest issues, Korra and Asami are not “borderline canon” they are. Do some research before you write and article.

  27. I love my SwanQueen, but there’s no one I’d rather lose to than Rumbelle even if I don’t ship them because the shippers tend to be very nice and open minded. All of OUAT’s canon ships are filled with problems, questionable chemistry/writing and awful social messages with maybe Snowing as the exception to this rule. At least I can admit SwanQueen would have these same issues, that’s more than most others will admit about their “epic” canon romances.

  28. i hate polls ive seen these all over my wall today… polls are meaningless doesnt matter who wins… those highest in votes tend to be the ones that need to “prove” their ship is great/not dead hence why the couples in trouble/not canon/broken up always tend to be on the top whiles the losing ships could care less about the polls until their ship starts to sink…. voting korrasami tho… just cuz

  31. What about the another Canons Couples? Like Caskett, Bones & Booth or Snowing? I have no idea why you included Swan Queen (they are not a couple, just friends and the writers were pretty clear about that) and didn’t included Canons couples!

  32. “steady fandoms” – that implies lots of time and dedication. How some of these are steady I am not too sure. A few of these are less than a year old??? Xena & Gabrielle, that is steady. Janeway & Chakotay, that is steady. Even SwanQueen & Rumbelle going on 4 yrs could be considered steady. But The Flash is in its 1st season. Outlaw Queen only just started last season. Lyla and Diggle are still a new thing. That to me does not qualify as steady. And those are just the ones I actually know of. I don’t watch the other shows with ships on this list. Plus there are some steady fandoms that haven’t been included on this list. How is it the big leagues if all the players aren’t brought to the competition???

  40. I voted for Rumbelle and Klaroline! My two favorite ships! I don’t mind swan queen being on the poll. I might not ship it, I am more interested in them as co-parents but I know a lot of people like them so what’s the harm?
